About Me
Hi, I’m Sally-Anne Featherstone, or Saf for short!
I have always loved silver. My maternal grandmother was a silversmith, and I have grown up seeing some of the beautiful items she created, including intricate jewellery and vases, chalices and amazing items of cutlery. This inspired me to book a course at West Dean College to start learning a new skill, and from there, with classes more locally, I discovered a passion for working in silver. It is mesmerising to watch the metal heat up, change colour and then see the solder flowing. The excitement of finishing a piece and seeing it shiny and polished at the end never fails.
Being able to design and create jewellery I want to wear and silverware that I’d like to keep, is a very rewarding and fulfilling process. My pieces are made by hand in my new workshop in rural Essex and hallmarked, where necessary, at the London Assay Office at Goldsmiths’ Hall, London. Here they have my ‘maker’s mark’ applied and the hallmark to say this piece conforms to the relevant standard of precious metal. (So you can be assured it is what it says it is.)
I work predominantly in 925 Sterling Silver, but also in 999 Fine Silver and may incorporate semi-precious gemstones and hints of gold in some designs. These materials are all sourced from very reputable suppliers, mainly in Hatton Garden, London.
Most of my jewellery is made to order so please take this into consideration when ordering your individual piece of handmade silver. There will inevitably be slight variations from the images displayed as no two pieces can be exactly the same when making by hand.
