How should I care for my jewellery?

Silver will naturally tarnish over time, but it is recommended to:

• avoid contact with any chemicals, creams, perfumes or hairspray - put your jewellery on last!

• avoid wearing your jewellery when bathing, showering, swimming or exercising and try not to sleep in it!

• keep your silver jewellery separate to prevent scratches, preferably in a dark, cool and dry place - like its box!

• clean regularly with lukewarm water, washing up liquid and a soft brush and finish by drying and polishing with a soft cloth

Polishing cloths are excellent and are available to purchase from my online shop. Please go to the Extras page to add to your order. 

If your jewellery has a scratched matt finish that is polishing up with wear, this can be re-established by rubbing the surface with a fine scouring pad, using a circular motion.

Heavy tarnish on plain silver jewellery (ie. no gemstones), can be removed by a good quality silver dip. I recommend watching the piece as it will probably only need a few seconds in the dip. Read the instructions carefully as leaving the piece in for too long may damage it, rinse thoroughly and pat dry.

How to size rings, bangles and necklaces?

Ring Sizing.

The most accurate and easiest way to find out a ring size is to visit a jewellery shop and ask them to help. They can either measure your finger or measure a ring that you, or the person you are buying for, already has that fits well. Rings which have a wide band will need to be a slightly larger size than your normal rings so consider this when checking your size.

Alternatively, you can use a plastic ring sizer which I have in my shop, under Extras. It is best to measure your fingers at the end of the day when they are warm and at their largest.

Please check your finger size before you place an order as I shall make to your specification. If you order the wrong size I may need to charge you a re-making charge. 

Bangle Sizing.

Bangle size is determined by the size of your hand, not your wrist.

Ideally, measure a bangle that you know already fits. Measure the internal diameter, straight across the centre of the bangle.

Alternatively, tuck your thumb into the palm of your hand towards your little finger, as if putting on a bangle, and using a measuring tape, measure your hand all the way around the widest part, over the knuckles. This measurement gives you the circumference. 

Please select your preferred bangle size from the drop down menu when ordering; please allow 1-2mm variation per size:

• Small is 60mm internal diameter / 188mm circumference (7.4 inches circumference)

• Medium is 65mm internal diameter / 204mm circumference (8 inches circumference)

• Large is 70mm internal diameter / 220mm circumference (8.7 inches circumference)

BUT as they're all made from scratch by me, if you need a different size, just let me know,  I'll be happy to help. 

Please note most of the pieces in the Silver By Saf collection are made to order. As I make each piece by hand each item will differ slightly, making every piece unique.

How will my order be packaged?

All jewellery will arrive presented in a smart eco-friendly gift box or pouch where possible, carefully wrapped for you to enjoy.

I’m buying as a present, can you send my order directly there?

I can gift wrap and post straight to the person you are buying it for. Please add the gift wrapping service to your basket and contact me with any personal message you’d like to send.

I need it by a certain date, is this possible?​
